Where is the DMDK?

VijayakanthAs expected, in the Tiruchendur and Vandavasi by-polls, the ruling DMK has dealt yet another blow to arch rival AIADMK, by winning them by a huge margin.

DMK's triumph marks a complete success for the party this year which it started on a winning note, humbling AIADMK in the Tirumangalam by-polls, followed by an impressive performance in the May Lok Sabha polls and bagging five seats with its ally Congress in the August bye-elections.

Elated over the victory, DMK president and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi  has said that people voted for “our party due to our government's achievements and the importance we accord in solving their problems." M K Alagiri claims that the party would win the next assembly elections to be held in 2011.

The by- poll outcome comes as another jolt to Jayalalithaa who is yet to recover from the drubbing her party received in the earlier elections and had hoped to make a morale-boosting comeback. She had actively campaigned for the by-polls.

As usual, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa has alleged that the ruling DMK had indulged in various electoral malpractices to secure victory in the bye-elections.

The results have yet another tale to tell. Yes, the DMDK of Vijayakanth seems to have disappeared into  oblivion. Just anybody cannot become an MGR.  The MGR formula had much more that sheer electioneering. People felt there was someone to care for them. Unless the Captain changes his methods and infuses sincerity in his approach, his party may have to be content with a short-lived existence.

H.R has used the words as usual AIADMK has alleged of malpractice by DMK. Everybody in the Media knows well how money has been distributed by DMK to lure the voters. How is it possible to have 80% polling in the rural town like Vandavasi when there is not even proper roads. Media as usual closes its eyes on the DMK. Ramakrishnan as usual puts "chinchac" for kaligner.

I thought Mr.Ramakrishnan was going to tell something useful to Vijayakanth and his party. I thought he was advising DMDK to follow MGR's path. MGR in spite of his unchallenging authority of his influence with the mass, he never went alone in the polls arrogantly. He had Congress always with him except for a short period. If Vijayakanth stood with AIDMK, Karunanidhi would not dreamt of power again. So please understand that DMDK and DMK connive together and play this political game to keep Jayalalitha out of power. In one way that too is good. She is another leader who can never be reached for the common people. Hence, Karunanidhi is the better devil and let him continue.

I think probably the CM on wheel chair and his criminal sons have threatened voters / opposition candidates. Its pathetic to see candidates still being elected based on caste / religion / populist moves. I wish there will be awakening of masses one day and they express their public anger / non-acceptance against corrupt / bankrupt / inefficient politicians, just like we had seen a demonstration against Ruchika's delayed justice

It is funny to watch a criminal winning elections with exact prediction of huge margin 40,000 votes every time.. How is it possible? What happened to this election winning DADA and his cases of Madurai Dinakaran Murder, Tha.Krutinan murder where DMK election DADA has directly charge sheeted? What happened to the Panayur twin murder case where DMK family is involved in? All cases have been cancelled due to DMk in power. NONE can stop this atrocity!!

today the ruling party DMK has flamboyant skills of pushing their boundaries to different distances.Every minister seems very profitable by handling the public money.no more monitoring committe for them how they utilise the public money.money forces them to go any level.means buying the inteelectual community too. What vijaykanth can do?its not surprising the DMDK lost the battle. But alarming note is there are certain elements always raise their voice and power when they decided to shift the balance.then the supporting intellectuals need to support another ruling party for getting Vitamin "Rs"

what else can u expect when u have a CM, DCM and Central Ministers campaigning in this election....we have already seen a daylight murder (Madurai press burning) be converted into a no-show simply because the persons who perpetuated the crime and the persons who owned the press joined together for their own selfish benefits and left the persons who suffered the loss without any place to appeal for relief....

I think Vijaykanth realizes that his party has nothing to offer. He will forge an alliance in the next elections with Cong, until then he will cool off with a movie or two. What can anyone do when the ruling party has money power like never before. 2011 it's going to be Cong-PMK-DMDK-CPI-CPM etc, ADMK-MDMK(Vaiko), DMK-SMSK(SarathKumar). DMK will come back to power because of vote split from these factions. If you are wondering about DMDK, please tell us where PMK is today ??

Capt. S.Ravichandran
Better for DMDK to forge alliance with Congress under Sonia madam. Sonia is a remarkable leader for India and the only hope for India. Her good qualities are worth emulating. I simply worship her and I have a picture of her in my puja room.

It is time for AIADMK, DMDK and BJP to forge an alliance atleast for the next general election. They should realize that failures are the pillars of success. They must demonstrate the common touch with the people from now on.
