 TCS IT quiz for schools
Tata Consultancy Services, with a view to promote IT awareness and encouraging young talent, will hold the Chennai edition of TCS IT Wiz on September 9, at Kamaraj Memorial Hall. It is open to school students from class 8 - 12.
TCS launched the country’s first-ever inter-school IT quiz for schools in 1999 in Bangalore. Subsequently, the quiz was extended to a few other cities in the south including Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and
Hyderabad.
The programme has been branded as 'TCS IT Wiz'. Over the years, it has witnessed high standards of quizzing, intense competition and edge-of-the-seat excitement during the programme. The event is undertaken to enhance IT awareness among the youth, as IT has today put India on the global map.
This year, TCS proposes to extend the quiz to six cities in India - Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Pune and Kolkata. The quiz has received immense patronage among the student community and has been an integral part of its campus outreach programme, besides providing student community a window to the world of IT.
The programme, which has a major thrust on information technology, will enable to propagate IT application in many facets of life. Areas such as advertising, business, books, banking, education, entertainment, multimedia, Internet, world wide web, finance, sports, shopping, cinema and music will be covered during the quiz.
There will be no entry fee or registration fee. Each institution is allowed to send multiple teams (two-members per team) to participate. School uniforms are a must. The quiz will have a written preliminary round from which six teams will qualify for the finals. Entries must be sent through the respective institution heads.

The quiz will be hosted by Quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam and carries attractive prizes and gift hampers, not only for the winners but all the finalists as well, besides audience prizes. The school with the best cheering squad will also win a prize.
