Attired
in traditional wedding wear and decked in glittering ornaments, Lord
Srinivasa and Goddesses Sridevi and Bhoodevi presented a divine
picture for the many devotees.
With the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) making elaborate
arrangements for the celestial wedding, an estimated one lakh people
thronged the venue, the Island Grounds.
The TTD had arranged for the wedding of the Lord in the metro
especially for poor devotees, who cannot afford the fee charged for
organising the wedding at Tirumala. Flat-screen monitors were placed
at vantage points for those devotees seated far from the stage, with
the proceedings being beamed live.
The `purohits' chanted mantras on the microphone
and the rituals were performed according to the Agamas (written
rules).
Noted Tamil singer Seergazhi Sivachidambaram,
started the evening's proceedings, by rendering Tamil and Telugu
compositions on Lord Srinivasa, also known popularly as Lord Balaji.
With Tamil commentary to describe the rituals,the
audience had knowledge of the reasons behind each ritual. Elaborate
security arrangements were also in place,keeping in view the
expected huge crowd of people for the evening.
Over one lakh people witnessed the celestial
wedding of Lord Srinivasa in Chennai on Sunday.
