Scope International Pvt Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of
Standard Chartered Bank, in partnership with Inner Wheel
District 323 jointly organised a seminar exclusively for women,
titled 'Sampatti - Empowerment through Invetsment' in Chennai on
August 4, 2007. The seminar focused on different investment
options available in the market and how women can make informed
decisions. It witnessed participation from nearly 350 women
including home managers, working women, teachers and students.
Sreeram Iyer, CEO, Scope International, said,
"With the changing role of Indian women, it has become necessary
for them to take control of their finances and make informed
investment decisions about investing their money."
Inaugurating the seminar, Kamala Ramakrishnan,
president, International Inner Wheel, said, "Today women are
keen to understand different asset classes and invest their
hard-earned money into safe asset baskets. It is high time women
took on the responsibility of managing the finances of the
family that was traditionally considered a male domain."
Other eminent speakers at the seminar
included Mahalingam Vishwanathan, director and head, Client
Relationships – Wholesale Banking, Standard Chartered Bank;
Benis Kumar, AVP-Sales, Sundaram BNP Paribas; Subhasri Sriram,
executive director, Shriram City Union Finance Limited, and
Dinesh Vazirani, MD, Saffron Art - Mumbai, all of whom educated
women on investment options in varied fields like equity, mutual
funds, metals and contemporary art.
