An international seminar on Tamil poet Subramania
Bharathiar, 'Bharathi 125', will be held at Kalapet, near Puducherry,
from September 21 to 23.
The Subramania Bharathiar School of Tamil Studies
in Pondicherry University and the Chennai-based Vaanavil Cultural
Centre are jointly organising the seminar.
A release from the coordinator of the symposium
and dean of the school, Prof A Arivunambi, says that more than 200
delegates from different parts of the world and from within the
country would participate in the deliberations.
Renowned agricultural scientist M S Swaminathan,
Vice-Chancellor of the Pondicherry University, Dr J A K Tareen,
registrar S Lokanathan and a host of scholars, including former
vice-chancellor V S Kulandaiswamy and the Tamil exponent Solomon
Pappaiah would address the participants.
Puducherry Education Minister M O H F Shahjahan
would deliver a special address and a treatise on Bharathiar would
be released on the occasion. (Agencies)
