TIndian Engineering Industries (IEI) and Sankeshwaraa Papier -
Chennai launches Aadeshvaraas, the gallery for contemporary art,
with a collection of prints to support print activities in
India.
Towards keeping the tradition of prints alive, IEI brings to art
lovers a portfolio of prints - a medium of art which is gaining
momentum and recognition in India.
A note from Aadeshvaraas says, it was decided that the first
collection would be of the printmakers of Chennai. Therefore,
they chose both established and emerging printmakers for this
prestigious project.
Asma Menon
Asma Menon has been in the field of
printmaking for the past 15 years. She is well known as a print
maker/painter both in the country and outside. Her strength of
line is what is discernible when one views her works. "Flights
of fancy and little creatures of the word."
Benitha Perciyal
Benitha Perciyal is a young and dynamic
artist working in the medium of printmaking/painting. Her subtle
hues of her self-portrait in her works are a reflection of her
persona. Benitha is making waves both in the country and
outside. "An artist to watch out for."
Prasanna kumar
Prasanna Kumar is a photographer with a
passion for printmaking. He is also a designer par excellence.
Noted are his catalogue designs for 'The Noble Sage Gallery -
London'. The sepia tones of his prints reflect the artist
within, viewing himself through the eyes of his camera. "Or is
it the third eye?"
Mahendran and Suresh
Mahendra and Suresh are the Young Turks of
the printmaking field in Chennai, having received their masters
in printmaking. They have won junior awards in their field, and
in recognition of every generation we at IEI felt that they
should be presented as the future.
All prints are made on somerset satin white
printmaking paper and mounted on a 8" x 11" archival baord
individually.
