Thejamani (former actress Bindu Ghosh) play the lead in 'Madurai
Ponnu Chennai Paiyan', a love story between city-bred youth and
a rural lass.
The film is produced by Veluthevar Films and
Prime Art Creations.
The film is directed by A C Rajasekharan who
has also penned the story, screenplay, dialogue and lyrics.
The lead players are students who fall in
love and it's about how they surmount their hurdles and come out
successful in their affair that forms the story.
The unit members recall an incident when they
were shooting a scene near a pond in Pallavaram. It was one
where the hero had to remove some blood stains from the
heroine's body. As the scene was being shot, the heroine slipped
and fell into the waters. It was the timely rescue by some unit
members, who jumped into the waters and pulled her out, that
saved her life.
A fight scene was picturised on the National
Highway when yet another accident was averted by the vigilant
crew. A chase scene was shot where villains Arun Pandian, Karate
Raja and some stunt actors chase Nizhalgal Ravi in a car. A
cyclist from one of the village lanes suddenly appeared on the
path, and this time it was stunt master Thrill Shekhar's
presence of mind that averted the accident. Wielding the camera
was Rajarajan.
The film has a supporting cast of R
Sunderrajan, Pooja, Nijin, Santhana Bharathi, Manobala, Muthu
Kalai, Pandu, Nellai Siva, Payilwan Ranganathan, Sharmili,
Sabita Anand and Sivanarayana Murthy.
Dr. Muthubharathi, one of the co-producers,
also plays a crucial role. The film has editing by Udayshanker,
music by Kanmani Raja and sets designed by Arumugham.
