Fly direct to Chennai
Delta Airlines has announced a
daily non-stop service between Chennai and Paris' Charles de Gaulle
International Airport, continuing to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport,
beginning May 11, 2005.
With this new service,
customers will be able to benefit from the service and experience of the first
and only US carrier to offer direct service to Chennai, the only US carrier to
serve two cities in India, and the first SkyTeam member airline to offer daily
online service from Chennai, said Sunil Talreja, manager, sales and marketing,
India.
Delta already offers its
passengers from India daily Mumbai-Paris-New York flights, doubling the number
of regular weekly flights from India to 14. An additional daily seasonal service
currently operates for the winter months from Mumbai to New York via Frankfurt.
"This new flight gives our
customers in India more choices for international travel via two significant
gateways - Paris-Charles de Gaulle and New York-JFK," said Dieter Hofele,
general manager - India for Delta. "These cities offer travellers hundreds
of convenient connections to destinations across Europe, Africa, Latin America
and the United States. In addition, customers in the United States and Paris now
have direct access to the south of India, being one of the fastest growing
technology centres in the world."
The new service will be
operated with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, featuring 36 seats in Delta's
award-winning Business Elite service, and seats in a 2x2x2 configuration with 60
inches of pitch, and 163 seats in economy class.
From Paris-Charles de Gaulle,
Delta offers customers, together with SkyTeam partner Air France, one-stop Delta
and codeshare connections to 12 US destinations and gateways, as well as
destinations throughout Europe, the UK and Africa. From Delta's US gateways in
New York, Atlanta and Cincinnati, Delta offers customers daily flights on Delta,
Delta Shuttle, Delta Connection and Song, its innovative low fare service, to
business and leisure destinations throughout North America, Latin America and
the Caribbean.
Delta Air Lines is proud to
celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2004, said Rodney D'Cruz, sales manager,
India. Delta is the leading US carrier across the Atlantic and the world's
second-largest airline in terms of passengers carried, offering daily flights to
487 destinations in 88 countries on Delta, Song, Delta Shuttle, the Delta
Connection carriers and its worldwide partners.
He said Delta's marketing
alliances allow customers to earn and redeem frequent flier miles on more than
14,000 flights offered by SkyTeam and other partners. Delta is a founding member
of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance that provides customers with extensive
worldwide destinations, flights and services.
