The deities:

The main deity of this temple is Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar with Sri Lakshmi on his lap. He is found in veetrirundha (sitting) position. The perumal is gigantic: he is about seven feet high. The Thaayar is about five feet in height.

The Thaayar and Perumal are so beautiful that it saddens one to see the dilapidated raja gopuram. It is the tower that attracts devotees to a temple, but in Narasingapuram, it is in a bad state.

The temple was probably built during the Vijayanagar period in the 16th century.

As we enter the temple after looking at the raja gopuram, we can see the chitra mandapam, which is also in a state of disrepair. The compound wall in the passage leading to the main deity's shrine and Andal shrine is completely ruined. Even atheists will feel sad at the condition of the temple.

Narasingapuram is said to be a great sthalam for all prarthanais and the Perumal is said to be 'Varapprasadhi' (gives us whatever boon we ask for).

Devotees affected by sevvai (Angaragan) dosham, can visit this temple.

The Perumal is also called 'Sri Kalyana Lakshmi Narasimhar' as he performs 'aalinganam' - holding Sri Lakshmi very closely.

Periya Thiruvadi - Garudalwar, is about 4 feet high and 16 nagams (snakes) are found in his body as ornaments.

It is believed that by continuously worshipping this Narasimhar for nine Swathi nakshathiram days, all wealth/health problems, obstacles in marriage etc., will vanish.

Some devotees and the people of the village have come together to do something for the temple and work is in progress. But the temple still needs a lot of money to be restored to its lost glory.

Appeal:

So, devotees who read article can visit the temple and contribute whatever they can. Or they can take up the restoration of a particular part of the temple like renovation of the bali peedam, dwajasthambam, taking up electrical works, prakaram works, etc.
