A trip to the mallu land! Experimenting different kinds of cuisine has been a zest for me for long. This has taken me to the taste the exotic & authentic taste of kerala. The Kumarkom restaurant chain from having branches in most part of the city has the original taste of kerala and the huge keralite fan following to boast of.
Certain dishes like the Yerichery and Pulichery have their Tamil contemporaries but shines extremely well amongst the home food hungry people of kerala. Seniya , a student of the city college who stays in an hostel says, " I am from Kerala, and the food that we eat there is completely different to that we get here. The big pink rice and the fish fries have no comparison. And this original taste is offered best by Kumarkom"
With a variety of Non-veg and Veg items you can have a choice of special Kerala rice or the normal rice for the main course. Their Karimeen is the best of the fish recipes on card. Probably the most sought after dish also.
The ambience is ordinary. The dim light gives an extremely cosy feel. All around with the sound of people calling the servers as 'Cheta' meaning brother in Malayalam adds flavour. This place has very less number of general crowd's foot falls. But the roaring business is due to the faithful mallu's.Staff are quite courteous and attentive. .
They offer all the variety of Kerala food. The typical kerela Paratha with egg curry or Chicken is the good choice of price conscious people. And one ingredient used almost in all dishes is coconut oil. Even the papads are fried in cocnut oil.
