The film Jjunction (spelt this way) is meant to be a youthful campus-based entertainer. There is youth and there is the campus, but what is missing is the
entertainment factor. The actor-turned-production manager-turned-director concentrates more on the frills, probably not realising that unless backed by a solid screenplay, the frills alone cannot generate audience interest.
It depicts a colleger's obsession for an actress on one hand, and his romance with his college-mate on the other. There is not much of conflict because it is his understanding girl-friend who gives him the winning ticket that makes it possible for him to spend a day with his favourite actress. The script is not very focused, the director not very clear as to what he wants to tell. Once in a while he attempts to touch on some youth-related issues, but most of the time it is the hero and gang indulging in loose talk, eve teasing, drinking and whiling away their time. And the heroines in minis and micros, with the camera playing 'peeping tom' most of the time.
From being part of a group in 'Thulluvatho Ilamai', Abhinay gets to play the hero here, and dances, romances and fights without any fuss. The heroines are uncannily alike in appearance, dressing and performance. Pale-faced and
anemic looking, their sole contribution to the film is their willingness to dare and bare. As for the title (Jjunction), it only follows the trend of keeping short, English (sounding) titles that has little relevance to the script.
