Director: Ratnaraj-Kalanathan
Cast: Ramya Krishnan, Sherin, Shriman, Ramesh Kanna, Fefsi Vijayan, Trilok, Karunas, Baburaj,
Manorama.
The teaming together of the screen charmer Ramya Krishnan and the sensuous Sherin offered exciting possibilities and promised an interesting scenario. But the writer and the director have failed to take advantage of it, and the film has turned out to be an insipid affair.
Sherin, the college fresher, jumps to her death when sexually assaulted by three influential men. She comes in just a few scenes but manages to liven them up by her vivacious presence. Ramya plays her senior and friend, who shocked by her junior's death sets out to track and destroy the men responsible for it. The actress has put in a sincere effort but the script has failed her too, and in spite all her screen presence, Ramya just cannot rise above a
lacklustre script.
The screenplay has many loopholes, scenes are carelessly joined together, the director quite forgetting what he had depicted in his earlier scenes. The rest of the cast too hardly get any scenes to impress. 'Jaya' is a disappointing fare
