Director:
Arun Pandian
Cast: Harish Raghavendra, Arun Pandian, Gayatri
Raghuram, Nasser, Radhika-Choudhary, Rekha, Uma.
Actor-turned director Arun Pandian's maiden directorial venture 'Devan' was different from the run-of-the-mill films, and revealed his penchant for off-beat action thrillers.
In his second film, the actor-director has chosen a different subject, and despite its shortcomings, what keeps it going is the fast pace, unpredictable sequences, characters with grey shades, and a fairly engaging narrative style that at least doesn't test one's patience.
With this film, playback singer Harish Raghavendra makes his foray into the acting arena. He has handled his role surprisingly well, especially in the emotional scenes. Gayatri Raghuram's transition from the ultra-modern girl of the earlier part to the scared confused one of the latter half is praiseworthy.
Arun Pandian himself takes the backstage; the investigating cop takes time off to romance with his wife in scintilating dance numbers. With screen sizzler Radhika Choudhary playing the wife, the dance number was but expected.
Ram dreams of marrying a simple, traditional girl. And when his fond mother finalises his marriage to Gauri, Ram consents without even seeing her for he had liked her traditional attire and homely looks in her photograph. But an unpleasant shock awaits him on his wedding night,
when he comes face to face with reality. And then a freak accident changes the entire course of his life, and Ram realises that if he plans his moves well, he might yet get to realise the life he had dreamed of. Only, there is nemesis in the form of a cop, the only one to suspect that Ram was into playing a dangerous game of his own.
