Kaiyodu Kaiy
Director: Rajan Sharma
Cast: Arvind, Yugendran, Sona, Raghuvaran, Malaysia Vasudevan, Karunas.
The film opens with 'Sholay's' 'Yeh Dosthi...' style of song to emphasise the great the bond between two buddies Raja and Manic.
Unknown to each other, the duo share something else in common too, their love for the same girl Nithya. When the story unfolds, Raja and Nithya are madly in love with each other, while Manic is the silent admirer biding his time. Raja's attempts to introduce Nithya to Manic is nicked each time by one of those 'filmy' circumstances. Manic gets close to Nithya's father, who impressed by him, finalises the Manic-Nithya marriage. Of course Raja has to go out of station at that time! Nithya however runs away from the marriage venue, and next when Manic meets her, it's as the wife of Raja. Manic promises Nithya that he would take no steps to avenge his humiliation. But when misunderstandings crop up between the newly-weds, Manic manipulates the situations to such an extent that the couple end up getting divorced. Three years later the couple encounter each other again.
The script defies logic many a time, and Manic's explanation for his actions are not convincing either. Arvind and Yugendar as Raja and Manic, try to fit into their roles, but are bogged down by an inadequate script. Badly miscast is the female role. When her appearance on screen, from scene one, particularly the close-ups causes amusement among the viewers, one realises that the film has fallen flat, even before it could really take off.
