It's a typical Sunder C film, one of his more enjoyable ones, with the right dose of action, sentiment, romance and humour, all weaved into a single film that is engaging and with not many lagging moments. The film makes no pretensions of being a classy affair, but nevertheless it is wholesome entertainment for the entire family. The highlight is the humour generated by the comedy track.

Shakthi visits his grandparents at their village where he falls for Neelaveni, the local bigwig's niece. But there are also a couple of her cousins vying for her hand. Shakthi has not only to fight his way through them, but also reckon with her father and aunt, to whom intimidation and murder are a way of life. The closing scenes where the eloping lovers fight their way through a band of her father's henchmen (the heroism of the hero is a bit overdone here), to catch a departing train, reminds one of the scenes in 'Jayam'.

It's a role that gives Prashanth enough scope to go through the entire gamut of emotions, all of which he does with easy assurance and finesse. The interaction between him and Vadivelu who plays his distant cousin, are some of the best scenes in the film, with Prashanth revealing his flair for comedy. Mercifully the hero's catch-phrase 'Nee sonne Naan Seiynchein' is not repeated to irritable lengths.

The director should be commended for presenting Kiran like she has never been projected since 'Anbe Sivam'. Kiran cuts a sweet, likable picture here with some suitable hairstyles and dresses.

Except when she does the dance routine, and then it's back to those unsuitable clothes that show her figure to disadvantage. There's Anuradha ( the vamp and dancer of yesteryears) who makes a convincing come back as the heroine's dreadful aunt. And a new villain Pratap Singh as Kiran's father. Riyaz Khan as Kiran's cousin is steadily growing as an actor worth watching out for.

And finally there's Vadivelu who is at his best here, his role well integrated with the main plot and the consistency maintained till the end. The comedian plays a major part in pepping up the proceedings and contributes much to the film's entertainment value.
