Prem, who a few years back had written, directed and played the hero in 'Krodham', returns with a sequel, 'Krodham-2'. The London-returned, karate-trained Prem's earlier films did show a sophistication and the obvious influence of Hollywood films. But over the years, it is the Kodambakkam influence that shows.
The first half of the film keeps one engaged with its racy narration and clever use of gadgetry and computer graphics. But the second half is a long drawn out affair. Further, while Prem is quite comfortable in the action scenes,
he is plainly not so in the song-dance routines and the scenes of melodrama, like the scene of his sister's death. The one who steals the show is actor Rajiv as DGP
Rajashekharan. Rajiv brings out excellently the trauma, frustration and the dilemna of a cop who sees all his efforts at nabbing criminals go in vain, due to loopholes in the law. Rajashekharan makes a pact with former jailbird Dheeran and blackmails him into doing his bidding. The cop points out the anti-social elements who have escaped the clutches of the law and Dheeran eliminates them one by one. The closing scenes -- where Dheeran, hit on the head, suffers from partial amnesia; the doctors and the cops obviously confused as to what to do with the man; finally letting him go scot free (he is not going to get back his memory, says the doctor) - could have been handled better. Radhika Choudhry is better here than in her earlier films. Khushbu has little to do as ACP Latha.
