In
a bid to inculcate patriotism among the youth and to popularise national poet
Subramanya Bharathi's songs among them, paint major Agsar Paints has come out
with an album of six songs, with music composed by popular film music director
Adityan.
The music for the album has
been set with a view to attract today's youth in the hope that Bharathi's
patriotic and profound lyrics would leave a lasting impact on them, Agsar
group's managing director N R Kirubakaramoorthy told a press conference in
Chennai on October 29. The group had created 'Agsar Music Wave' with a view to
come out with different products in the field of music.
 Depending
on the success of the album, the company would come out with many more songs and
different products, he said.
The speciality of the album was
that the songs were sung by a dozen children and a young singer Tippu.
The album was released by Mr
Justice S Jagadeesan, judge of the Madras High Court, at a function here on
October 29.
 The
judge pointed out that today's youth seemed to have a different taste in music
as compared to that of the previous generation and therefore such an album, with
music composed in a modern manner with the help of computers, was very much
required. Production of such a cassette at this juncture required courage, he
said adding that there was need to inculcate patriotic fervour using popular
mediums like music and other art forms.
Music director Adityan said he
had used different forms of global music systems as used in Brazil, the Gulf,
and South East Asia, to give an international flavour to Bharathi's songs and
give them an universal appeal. These different approaches would also help
attract the youth in terms of variation in beats, patterns and use of musical
instruments, he added.
 Justifying
the use of children in the songs, he said he wanted fresh voices for the album.
Only one playback singer's voice was used, that of Tippu, but he was also a
young singer, Adityan pointed out.
Among those who participated in
the function were 'Abaswaram' Ramji, a music director who had trained many of
the children (involved in this album), L Ravichandran, CEO of Chennaionline.com,
the young singers and their parents.
