Rama: How was that experience?

Kar: I think it was my dream come true driving along with my hero Michael Schumacher and so on. It was a new experience when you saw them and interacted with them. Driving on the track was a big eye opener for me. It went pretty well.

Rama: How was , and how is your experience as a test driver with Williams F1 since 2006?

Kar: It is a totally different job altogether. It involves testing and developing new parts for a new car. As a driver I have understood the Formula One Car much better.

Rama: In 2005, you said that your heart beats only for F1. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else". Do you still think so?

Kar: I did say that. At that time F1 was the only thing I had. But now more opportunities have opened up. And just testing all the time takes you backstage and people soon forget what you are doing. It has put me in a platform for my future.

Rama: How did you feel when your dream came true, when you shared the same pit lane with your idol Michael Schumacher?

Kar: I think he is the greatest driver ever and just to interact with him and to get some of his feedback was very good for my career. I can't say we are friends. But, whenever we met during races, he has given me pieces of advice.

Rama: At the drivers' briefings especially, I think he had given you tips....

Kar: I think one such drivers' briefings that stands out is the one at Melbourne. When journalists asked him about drivers, he looked at me and said,'he has been doing a good job.' It was one of the biggest moments in my career.

Rama: How games like NFS could be related to real racing?

Kar: It is all a team sport of the day. It is very similar. There is a team. I am part of the team. When everything comes together, then we will do well. It helps you to work out the strategies etc.

Rama: Is there any scope for technical jobs in your area?

Kar: Motor racing is full of technology. A lot of technology on the road car now has come from racing. The improvements in the engine, the brakes, the safety aspects etc. Big manufacturers are looking to the motor racing for the R and D.

Rama: It was in 2000 that you said you would like to be a Senna....

Kar: Every driver is inspired by Senna or Schumacher in racing. They are the greatest.

Rama: Inside your car, what do you think just before you see the green light.

Kar: Obviously, I am just concentrating and trying to get the best out of it. A lot of things can happen. People do ask me if I get nervous. But, I don't. I just concentrate.

Rama: You have said elsewhere that your car is like your office.....

Kar: For any racing driver that is the office. Over the years you get used to it.

Rama: If I am not mistaken, you were taking tips from Sachin Tendulkar to deal with presssure....

Kar: Sachin likes a lot of racing and he was there for some of my F1 races. We became friends and whenever I wanted some advice, he gave those tips.

Rama: You have several more years of racing left in you. What is your dream?

Kar: You set new goals. A One, Ferrari designed cars and engines. It is going to be a new era and I look to do well, put India fight for the championships, win races. Of course Formula One is not a closed book.
