Spiritual
Master and the Art of Living Founder, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
commences a week-long tour of Tamil Nadu on August 3, 2009 with temple
visits, tour of the Pancha Maha Bhootha Sthalas, prayers and satsangs.
Three hundred Art of Living devotees will accompany Sri Sri on his
this tour aimed at reviving ancient Indian value systems and traditions.
The universe and our body are made up of five elements (tatvas) -
Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Ether -which are called Pancha Maha Bhoothas.
In the Indian culture and tradition, temples epitomise these Pancha Maha
Bhoothas, besides being centres of learning, knowledge and culture which
enrich value systems and samskaras. The temples of Kancheepuram,
Kalahasthi, Thiruvannamalai, Chidambaram and Trichy represent each one
of these five elements which form the basis of existence. Along the way,
Sri Sri will visit several other well known temples.
On August 3, His Holiness will lead a satsang at 6.30 pm in the
precincts of the Sri Ekambaranathar Temple in Kancheepuram which
represents the earth element (Prithivi Lngam). On August 4 he will visit
Thiruvallur, Thiruthani and Sri Balaji Temple in Tirupati. The next day
he will go to the Kalahastheeswarar temple in Kalahasti, dedicated to
the air element (Vayu Lingam). On August 6, His Holiness will spend time
at the Sri Arunchaleswarar Temple in Thiruvannalmalai - theThejo Sthalam
or fire element - where a satsang has been arranged in the evening. The
Akasha Sthalam (space element) at Sri Natarajeswarar Temple in
Chidambaram is the venue for another satsang on August 7. The satsang at
Sri Jambukeswarar Temple in Tirchy which is the Jala Shatalam (water
element) will take place in the morning at 9 am on August 8. On his way
to Trichy from Chidambaram, Sri Sri will visit various temples at
Mayavaram and Kumbakonam.
Sri Sri will end his weeklong tour with a Maha Satsang at the Arts
College Grounds in Salem on August 8.
