If
someone thought of preparing a list of 'busiest persons' one
cannot leave out the name of Pandit Ashokbharrati. His telephone
numbers must be among the most accessed numbers in the country.
It is said that several lakhs attempt to get in touch with him
over phone everyday.
Pandit
Ashokbharrati is one among the noted numerologists of the
country. He is giving out a regular programme in Raj TV on
numerology. 'Engal namadhu kangal'.
The programme is so very popular throughout the Tamil-speaking
world. 'Panditji' (as he is popularly known) a title that he
received in 1981, answers even difficult and critical questions
patiently, his large smile never vanishing from his face.
An interview
with Pandit Ashokbharrati. A ChennaiOnline exclusive.
How
did you develop an interest for numerology?
My interest for
numerology started right from my schooldays, when I was in the
9th standard. I learnt this science from a Maharishi who was
living in our place and when I was in the 11th standard my
enthusiasm intensified and I trained myself in numerology. By
the time I was 20, I had started predicting on the basis of
numerology. The number of persons coming to me was steadily
increasing, as news of the preciseness of my predictions started
spreading. Many have written to me thankfully on the
effectiveness of my predictions and many still do.
What
is the difference between Astrology and Numerology?
There is
absolutely no difference. Astrology is based on the movements of
planets and numerology is also based on the planets. For
example, Venus is known as 6 in numerology. It is a simple way
of understanding and practising Astrology.
Is
there any truth in the general belief that numbers 8 and 13 are
unlucky?
Yes. These two
numbers are unlucky and persons with the numeral value of their
names adding up to these numbers would benefit by changing their
names to eschew the evil effects of these numbers.
Has
there been any bad or unfavourable effect after the name Madras
was changed to Chennai?
Yes. The
numeral value of the name Chennai is 25. You will recall that it
was on a 25th that earthquake shook the city. It is true that
the change of name has affected the development of the State, as
Chennai is its capital. A comparison of the growth rate of
states like Karnataka, Andhra, Maharashtra would prove this
point beyond doubt. So it is better we change the name Chennai
immediately to Madras.
What
is your opinion about removal of Kannagi statue, as per Vasthu?
The numeral
value of the name Kannagi is 17, which adds up to 8. No wonder
that she faced problems when she lived and even now! (Laughs)
It
seems that you have suggested that the name of our country be
changed to 'United States of India' (USI)…
Yes. If the
name is changed to 'USI', 'Gandhi Desham' or 'Bharath Desham' it
would result in faster growth rate and better development for
the country. The numeral value of 'India' is three and the value
of the date on which the country attained independence -
15.8.1947 - comes to 8. That's the reason why the country was
born with the partition of Pakistan. It was on January 30 that
Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated. The date would add up to 3. If
you carefully analyse the dates on which the country experienced
shocking incidents, you would find that numbers 8 and 3 have
been dominating the scene. For example the value of the date on
which Gujarat was shook by an earthquake (26.1.2001) add up to
8. The date on which Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated adds up to 3.
Number 6 would bring benefits to the country whereas number 3
and 8 are unfavourable.
It is for this
reason that I suggest that the name of the country be changed to
USI. The numeral value of United States of India is 72. If this
is done, India would progress very well in agriculture, industry
and general living as well and would be the 'number one' country
in the world.
If the name
'Sri Lanka' is changed back to Ceylon, I tell you, peace would
return within 30 days and it would grow up to match Japan. A
change of name for Kashmir as 'Bharat Kashmir' would silence the
guns in the valley.
What

Some
say that numerology is nothing different from sorcery…
Ask them to see
my programmes in Raj TV, regularly. Let them see how many are
blessed with children and how many have come up in life due to
numerology. When people see that how many are benefited and give
testimony, they would understand.
The numbers
governing a childless couple would invariably be 5 or 7. Take
the case of couples that opt for separation. The number
governing them would be 7. You can apply this rule to any case
and you would find its validity. Numerology is a science and not
sorcery.
It
is believed that Saturn causes evil effects in one's life. What
is your opinion on this?
'Who can stop
if Saturn decides to give' is the proverb. Therefore it is not
correct to think that Saturn always causes bad effects.
Our ancestors
have recorded several facts about 7000 years back and you can
verify their veracity even this day. Take for example. The
colour of Mars according to our sastras is red. And without
doubt, the present day science says that Mars is red in colour!
Our ancestors have likened the 'nava-dhanya'
(nine grams and grains) to the planets. The green gram is
likened to Mercury, and the colour of Mercury is green! So this
is science and is based on facts.
What
do you say about the 'Rahu-kalam' and 'ema-kandam'?
These periods
are vicious in nature and one has to avoid travelling or
speaking harshly especially during these timings.
What
numbers are not conducive to good marriage?
A wedding should not be arranged on dates whose numeral values
add up to 5, 7 or 8. (The values of the numbers of date, month
and year make the numeral value.)
Couples who marry on dates with numeral value 5 would remain
childless. Even if they beget children, they would only beget
female children.
Couples who get wedded on dates with numeral value 7, would get
divorced.
Premature death is certain in the case of those who marry on
dates with numeral value of 8.
It is therefore
necessary that marriages should be arranged on the right dates
and right timings.
About
love marriages…
Those who are
born on dates with values adding up to 1, 7 or 8 would always
fall a prey to the cupid before they get married. The love
affair of the persons with number 7 would not fructify. The
effect on number 8 would be neutral.
The numeral
value of the world 'love' is 3. '3' is governed by Guru
(Jupiter) who is the Lord of the Heart.
The numeral
value of the word 'Lovers' is 8. And therefore there is never
failure of love! It is only the lovers who fail!
Are
there celebrities and VIPs among your clientele?
Yes. But I
cannot disclose their names. Politicians, film stars and people
from the film industry in general and industrialists consult me
regularly and have benefited from my suggestions.
