The Oriental Year of the Snake had withdrawn on 11th February 2002. 12th February marks the first day of the New Year, the Oriental year of the Horse 2002 is the Year of the Horse, and more specifically, the Water Horse. Alarmingly, considering the dire omens for global conflict that have surrounded 2001, the Year of the Water Horse is referred to in Chinese tradition as the 'Horse in the Army' year. People born in this year are more headstrong, independent, lively, hasty and sometimes selfish type. They're also dedicated, loyal, hard working, able to withstand troubles and have an incredible sense of humour. Water Horses dress well and love looking their best. On the personal front they can be incredibly private and need space away from even their loved ones.
A Water Horse will do what is best for themselves, using shrewd business judgement and sometimes displaying a lack of compassion for others. On a bad day they can be restless and short sighted. The Year of the Horse always has pace, with developments on the world stage happening fast. There are usually armed conflicts and some surprising alliances forged. The battle for Afghanistan and the surrounding area, will prove to be one of the first great wars of the 21st century.
A Water Horse Year will bring fresh diplomatic crises, and a resurgence of patriotic spirit. Huge movements of population will prove a problem for several nations. Some sectors of the economy will suffer and industry will undergo great changes. There will be several leaps forward in technology, and the beginnings of a fuel revolution, with new petrol/diesel engine types and fuel sources. People will tend to socialise and romance more, and generally be bolder in dressing and attitude. For those with their noses to the trends, it'll be a marvellous year for business, but not one for the faint hearted!
