Santhanakrishnan joins Sutherland Group
 T.R. Santhanakrishnan (TRS) is slated to join Sutherland Group as its Global Chief Financial Officer (CFO) beginning 1st November, 2003. TRS will be dividing his time between Corporate Headquarters in Rochester New York and the company’s Chennai Operations.
In welcoming TRS, Dilip Vellodi, Chairman and CEO, of The Sutherland Group said, “Sutherland, has acquired a global footprint with Business Processing Outsourcing centres in India, Canada and the US. In keeping with this global expansion, we are excited to have TRS as part of our Global Management team. He has the experience of growing and managing the financial aspects of a variety of global businesses. His proven track record and competencies in financial management will help Sutherland achieve its aggressive growth plan”.
At Sutherland, TRS will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to the finance function of the Group, including its operations across India, Canada, the US and other geographies.
Speaking about his move to Sutherland, TRS said, “I am looking forward to joining a team that is set to build enterprise value in The Sutherland Group. I see two competitive advantages in Sutherland: Its portfolio of US Customers who have been happy users of its services for 17 years, and its experience in expanding delivery centres outside US and unlocking value for the company and its customers.”
TRS joins Sutherland from Sify where he was the Chief Financial Officer. He was part of the core team that managed Sify’s growth and development into a publicly traded play in the Internet network business in India. TRS also played a key role in getting Sify to be a publicly traded company in NASDAQ and raising over $ 256 million in corporate funding for the company.
Prior to Sify, TRS was with Sanmar Engineering Corporation as Executive Vice President, and formerly with Royal Dutch/Shell group in various positions in finance/planning functions in the Middle East.
T.R Santhanakrishnan is a Chartered Accountant and a Cost accountant (JN Bose Gold Medalist). He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Madras with a Gold medal and first rank there.
