The much awaited second edition of Vijay TV’s Airtel Super Singer Junior 2 has hit the Television screens last week and has witnessed the battle between the seniors and juniors. The first edition of Junior launched in 2007 gained huge appreciation across the state and Junior Super Singers like Krishnamoorthy, Saicharan, Vignesh, and Abarna are etched in the viewers’ memory.

This year the show promises greater entertainment and this provides another golden chance for kids in the age group of 6-14 years to showcase their singing talent on a Vijay TV’s platform which is to be judged by the legends of the music industry.

Apart from gaining recognition from acclaimed names of the music industry and being a child singing icon, the Airtel Super Singer Junior 2 winner will be honored with prize money of Rs.25 lakhs.

The first leg of on ground auditions kick started in Coimbatore and Tiruchi. In the end, 15 each from Coimbatore and Tiruchi were selected for the next level of competition.

Now it is time for the Chennai kids to rock with their performance on July 04th, this Saturday. The kids can audition at any of the Video booths placed across various outlets in Chennai at

Airtel Office, Silver Line, Old no.21, new no.1, MG Road, Opp. Adyar Anandha Bhavan, New Adyar Depot.

UniverCell Showroom, No. AC - 12, 12th avenue, Annanagar main road, Opp. Saravana Bhavan Blue Star, Annannagar East.

Abirami Mega Mall, No. 152, Purasawallkam High road, Chennai.

Spencer’s Daily, No. 25 G.N.Chetty Road, Near Vani Mahal, T. Nagar.

Chennai Citi Centre, 10 – 11, Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Mylaopre till July 03rd.

Children can also audition on Super Singer Junior van which will travel across the city till July 03rd, 2009.

The little ones who haven’t yet sent in their entries for the show or those who have tried and not yet heard from Vijay TV can reach the venue directly (first cum first serve basis) in Chennai and try their luck by bringing along the proof of age (birth certificate, ration card etc.,)

The Chennai audition is to be held on July 04, 2009 at “Mayor Sri Ramanatha Chettiar Centre”, Santhome High Road, MRC Nagar, R. A. Puram, Cheenai. Spot registration opens at 8am. Parent or legal guardian must accompany all participants.

It is very pitiable to see Srikanth the Junior most contestant sleeping in the sofa. Parents of Srikanth especially his father exercise coersion on this minor boy to perform more than his ability. This is the worst form of CHILD LABOUR. It is not agreeable that parents should fulfil their childhood desires through their wards. The smallest boy is affected much due to lack of sleep, it seems. Usually recording takes place late night, I think. This youngest contestant is not allowed to sleep unless his turn to perform in the stage comes. Is it not the worst form of child labour? Comments given by GM, Suresh and Mithila are very acceptable. It is not fair on the part of the judges especially Mrs. Chitra to be partial between Tamil contestant and Keralite contestant. Judgement is reserved, I fear that to bring either Alka or Roshan to light, talented contestants like Srinidhi are cornered to the dark. Judgement should be given without any prejudice. Smt. Malgudi Subha is very reasonable among the judges. Mr. Mano, it seems that he has no opinion on his own. He always seconds the opinion issued by Smt. Chitra. Though Srinidhi-like children sing very well their small mistakes are blowed into a big balloon to eliminate them. Mr. Balasarangan is called everytime to send off the eliminated person. Why? Is it a predetermined notion? Judges should keep in mind that six crore judges are watching this show every week. Alka and Roshan are good singers there is no doubt. But it might be seen that between these two contestants, Alka is given undue credit than Roshan. To create a female title winner Alka is being prepared, it seems.

Special 5 contestants should be selected only at the end of the program since many singers are losing their chance though they had performed well.SRINIDHI'S ELIMINATION IS UNDIGESTABLE INSPITE OF HER GOOD PERFORMANCE THAN OTHERS.It is obvious that the judges are partial.Same for Balasarangan also.He is giving his best performances every week but he is always in the waitlist inspite of his direct participation.

I agree with GM's views on Srinidhi. She had done well in Auditions. The Alegra song during auditions and Pattathu raani song during free-style round was exceptional. Chitra is particularly harsh on Srinidhi. May be to boost other mallu contestents like Alka, Roshan, etc. I am very sad on elimination of Srinidhi this week. Instead of judges, it should be left to public to vote.

I think Srinidhi sang exceptionally well in all of her performances. It seems to me that the judges expect "perfection" from these kids, what they themselves - seasoned performers - cannot deliver extemporaneously. Chitra especially seems very partial by passing over some major mistakes by some kids while making a big fuss over minor imperfections of others, especially Srinidhi. I wish her all the best in her music career. My hope is that she will be a formidable competition in the future to these "so-called" judges.

I feel that judges are very partial.Shrinidhi sang very well in the rain round.There were contestants who did'nt sing well in the same.But they were not in the wait list.Shrinidhi was able 2 bring the mood of the song and there was no big flaws to say in her performance.I was not really able 2 see her in the waitlist zone.what a lovely and different voice she has?If she is eliminated the viewers will really miss her.Even if the judges don't like her personally,it is not fair to reduce her marks and eliminate her.

I don't know where these crazy things are going to end. Entertainment can soon become a night mare. Already kids are being driven under hell lot of pressure in studies, now these kind of uselesss entertainments forcing them into another draculous extremes. Look at their parents during the audition, especially father of Srikanth, too much of tension in his face. I don't what he is going to do to Srikant if he don't get selected. That too a huge prize amount Rs. 25lakhs(what does it mean to kids), but the greedy parents will force their kids to achieve them. If anything dangerous thing happen, will VijayTV takes responsibility for this. Folks please think thousand times, you are risking your kids life in this. About the judges, the way they criticise the kids, damn it, even they won't be perfect in their age, but the way they pass on the comments on these kids is atrocious. Dear Parents, Please treat kids as KIDS, don't force your greedy thoughts on them. Please don't encourage these shows. Let the younger generation grow in peace and tension free environment. Before somthing dangerous happens, lets stop these kind of shows. - Saran
