In
China New Year is an important festival. They look forward to it
months in advance. This time, they brought the Festival to Chennai.
to celebrate February 7, the spring festival or the New Year with
the Chennaivasis.
The Residency, T. Nagar is proud to organise this Chinese food
festival, Chin Chin from February 6 to 17 at its premises.
The ingredients in Chinese dishes including fish,
dumplings, noodles, chicken, oranges and tangerines symbolize the
aspects of traditional values.
Fish represents togetherness, chicken brings
prosperity, long noodles symbolise long life, dumplings bring
wealth, oranges and tangerines are the symbols of gold and happiness
and an array of candies represents togetherness.
The
Chinese also believe that cucumber brings good fortune. In addition,
a platter with either five meats or five veggies, named as fortune
platters is believed to bestow five blessings of the New Year.
Apart from the non-vegetarian food items, Beijing
cauliflower, vegetable noodles, vegetarian starters and soups are
also served.
Pleasant
music and the ambience draw more people. On the very first day, the
festival witnessed a good amount of Chinese food lovers.
