Want a place to chill out with some booze, listen to some good music and just have a good time? Well, Star Rock, a resto-bar has emerged to be a very popular spot for today's youth. If not to drink, you'll still find the place packed with people who just want to have fun and relax after a day's hard work.

Located in Kodambakkam High Road, Star Rock is a part of the Vasantha Bhavan Group. The basement has the resto bar, the first floor holds Hotel Vasantha Bhavan and the 2nd floor, has Arunachalam Inn to house guests. The now popular building is owned by Superstar Rajnikanth.

So what is it about Star Rock that draws the crowd here?

This is what student, Rajiv had to say. "The dim lighting, the vast variety of drinks from Pepsi to tequila, the awesome music and the DJ, the quick service and bouncers to prevent any trouble, the central location, plenty of eatables from small snacks to fried chicken to complement the drinks, and the highly affordable prices- these are just the little things that make Star Rock a favourite hangout for my friends and me."

According to Mr. Kingston, Steward and Captain of Star Rock, "On any day, Star Rock is crowded. You can find working people as well as the college crowd (above 21 years) relaxing after a long day. We cater to rock music and we sometimes also have rock bands performing over here. Every day we of course have a DJ doing his stuff and ke, keeping the crowd upbeat and on their toes. Everyone has fun!"

Star Rock is open from 11am to 11pm and has its Happy Hours with a 10% discount between 11am and 6pm. This resto-bar provides its customers with Chinese cuisine, both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian.

So apart from the atmosphere here, what draws the crowd? Of course, the not too expensive drinks! You can buy a small drink for around Rs 55 to 65, a regular drink for Rs 55 and a Premium for just Rs 65. Prices of cocktails start from Rs 150 to 200 and mock tails are priced at around Rs 100.

Says Puja. S, "What draws me to Star Rock is the alcohol which is not very expensive. Being a student, coming here occasionally doesn't blow too big a hole in my pocket. The rates are low and the place is good, what more do I need?"

Star Rock, started in the year 2003, is a rock pub which has a DJ every night from 7 to 11pm. And during the Happy Hours, there's something or the other being played in the background to soothe and entertain the crowd. With a combination of Chinese cuisine, rock music, not-too-expensive alcohol and a relaxed atmosphere, Star Rock is definitely in the list of favourite hang outs for today's generation.
