'Ilaiya Thalapathi' Vijay, who turned 35 yesterday, introduced the flag for his Fans' Clubs. Many of the star's fans assembled in Chennai for the occasion, which was a grand affair. Producers 'Kalaipuli' Thanu, R.B. Choudhary, A.M. Ratnam, actors Sathyaraj, Prabhudeva and Raghavendra Lawrence participated in the event; but, the star whose presence raised many an eyebrow was none other than the hot and happening Nayantara.
The flag depicted Vijay himself in a blue circle in a white background. Vijay hoisted the flag, kept ready on the flag mast, amid thunderous applause from his fans.
S.A. Chandrasekar, father of Vijay and 'honorary' president of All India Vijay Fans' Club, said that many of his journalist friends asked him whether his son will be entering politics at a later day. He asked the audience about their reaction if such a thing were to happen; the reaction was a mixed one with some nodding their head in agreement and many others saying a vociferous 'no'. S.A. Chandrasekar said it was up to Vijay's fans to make the flag count, when it actually mattered, in future. If he really meant what we thought he might have meant, then it's anybody's guess as to what the future might hold for these fans!
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay said that he was aware that his fans cut across party affiliations and that they belonged to various political parties. 'If I float a political party one day, that will be a doomsday for me. It's not a child's play. I want to be loved by one and all. This flag is introduced only to cater to your demands. I would once again like to reiterate that politics was never and will never be my cup of tea' signed off Vijay in a categorical manner.
In the hindsight, this could turn out to be a wise decision!
