You think that it can never snow in Chennai? Then think again! Spread on a 2000 sq of area, a cool zone known as the Snow Splash has been set up at the island grounds in Chennai. Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Cooperation(TTDC) in collaboration with Rohini Groups has come up with this concept. People who visited the site not only are having a great deal of fun, but also showered under the snow, splashing from five different places. What better way to beat the heat?

Vinoj, owner of Rohini Groups says "The Snow Splash is the best way to beat the scorching heat. Specially built to beat the Agni Nakshatram, snow splash is open for all from 1 p.m to 10 p.m." Various food stalls and game stalls have also been set up which is also the part of summer season activities organized by the TTDC.

The TTDC has given a part of the land at Island Grounds for lease to the Rohini Groups. Apart from a daily expense of about Rs 50 000, which is used on buying raw materials, the Snow Spash is built on a budget of Rs 30 lakhs. The entry fee is pretty much nominal compared to the rates last year. "We wanted people from all levels of society to come and enjoy the snow splash, reducing the price has surly made many people visit us", says the authorities.
