The Rotary International District 3230 and Rotary Club of Meenambakkam are organizing an International Sports and Talent Meet (RYLA) for the challenged community. This is a first of its kind event in India, for the disabled community. The 3 days event will take place at the Nehru Park Stadium, Nehru Stadium and Madras Race Club from the 19th to 21st September 2008.
For the first time in India a Badminton tournament will also be conducted for the Physically Challenged and Dwarf community. The contingency will have a team of 60 players from 12 states and 4 countries. The Expected number of participants will be around 500-600 from states like Karnataka, A.P, U.P, W.Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Bihar, etc,
The event is being conducted on a large scale with a budget of 11.40 Lakhs. Several participants from Singapore, Malaysia, Afghanistan,Srilanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Laos have already confirmed their participation.
