It was a musical fare at AVM Rajeswari kalyana mantap on Saturday. The birth centenary celebrations of the musical wizard , a composer par excellence Periaswamy Thooran was celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm by a galaxy of persons from all walks of life from morning till evening.

After a Mangala isai by Mambalam M K S Sundar , the vocalist Geetha Rajasekar regaled the audience with the compositions of Periaswamy Thooran. Eminent jurists, journalists, educationists , philanthropists spoke about the oeuvres of the composer and the . The portrait of Periaswamy Thooran was unveiled by Arulnidhi S K Mayilanandhan. Koothabiran also called Vanoli Anna. He nostalgically recalled his association with Periaswamy Thoora and a children program. He dwelt at a great length about the composer who is his Guru and his potentials to capture the hearts of the children

The students of T K Govinda Rao, a distinguished musician who has notated many of his songs presented a program and was a musical m�lange for connoisseurs.

Union minister P Chidambaram and finance minister K. Anbhazhgan , graced the occasion. Renowned jurists Gandhi N Murali of The Hindu spoke about the ingenuity of Thooran.

Swanthanthra Kumar son of Thooran and his family were actively involved in the event and N Mahalingam headed the centenary celebration committee.
