Panguni Uthiram In Nanganallur

The Celestial wedding of the Gods and Goddesses was celebrated on Panguni Uthiram with piety and enthusiasm by Nanganallurvasis. All the temples wore a festive look and was bursting at its seams on the day of Panguni Uthiram. Special poojas were done at homes to commemorate the celestial wedding . Let us glimpse at the proceedings in the temples.

In the Lakshmi Narasimha temple in MMTC colony the deities congregated at one place inside the temple to bless the devotees. Lakshmi Narasimha entered into a wedlock with Amirthavalli Thayar.

Thirumanjanam �holy bath was performed to the deities. It was accompanied by the vedic chants by the savants. Then the gods and their consorts were attired with new silk garments and garlanded with fragrant jasmine and rose flowers. A Homam to signify the wedding ritual was performed by pundits. It was a wedding in the true sense. At the auspicious time a priest tied the Thirumangalyam -Thali to the goddess. In the evening there was a special darshan as the newly weds were posing effulgently in a flower bedecked Oonjal-swing.

After the wedding sweet and savories were distributed to the gathering.. The sea of humanity surged to witness the wedding. And partook the prasadam distributd by the temple authorities.

In the Varasiddhi Vinayakar temple in the second main road Lord Subramanya married Valli. Subramanya was attired like a groom , is he not waiting to tie nuptial knot with Valli? A women coterie accompanied the bride to the entrance of the temple. The coy bride Valli garlanded her chivalrous husband . The exchange of garlands between the bride and the groom was a visual treat..Seer varisai which included murukku and laddu. Which were brought in a huge silver plate.. Fragrant jasmine and roses was mixed with sprightly Kanakambaram clung to the wood Oonjal �swing. The icons of the divine couple were placed on it and women showcased their singing prowess by rendering Oonjal songs like �Dolayam, Kanoonjal etc. At the appointed time the priests conducted the wedding . The wedding was followed by a sumptuous feast . The scenario at home was different. The intricate kolam decorated the entrance of every house. Special poojas were performed as Panguni Uthiram coincided with full moon-Pournami. Mouth watery delicacies were offered as Neiveidhyam and distributed as Prasadam. The involvement of Nanganallurvasis is celebrating any event-spiritual or cultural is a testimony to the implicit faith and devotion they have reposed in the almighty.
