Solar moon day was a cool escape from the merciless sun.My nocturnal sortie made me glimpse the varied events and celebrations on the solar moon day. The ideal get away from the mundane world and blazing sun is to treat one self with some from of entertainment.

Besides adding a spiritual color to it women gave it a gastronomical flavor The much awaited Nila Sappadu made the men women and children wait endlessly for Chitra Pournami.

Some working women took leave and were really sweating it out. For the nocturnal spread.in most of the houses the members opted for Variety rice which has been synonymous with Chitra pournami and Nila Sappadu.

After the usual Poojas at home many devotees had a rendezvous with Gods in the temples. The exotic array of variety rice included the mouth watering � coconut, Karveppilai tamarind (puliyogre) and curd rice. The cooking spree began in the evening.

spotless moon silhouetted against the dark sky was a visual treat. Those days when the area was full of greenery the Moon played hide and seek with us claimed Raju who laments over the urbanization of Nanganallur.

With no electricity around Moon radiated her cool silvery rays bathing every one in its radiance which enhanced the Moon light dinner. I enjoyed the flavors of the special spread declared Meena who has a great appetite for tamarind rice. We were seduced by the divine ambience and the extravagant dinner quipped Madhu who ate to her hearts content. The aromatic food blended with the Milky Way to create a diversity of visuals. It was a peoples Night Out in the true sense.
