Who's got the POWER!!

With the dog days playing its havoc on the citizens ,one of the ways to beat the heat is to cool oneself under a fan at day and chill out in air conditioned room at night. Off late this is becoming a pipe dream in Nanganallur. Are you wonder stuck at my confessions. The frequent and unannounced power failure or cut is a treacherous thing that can happen in summer. The sweat glands over work and our body is wet with droplets of water which trickles down like a water falls.

We are terribly disturbed during siesta . It is not a human being who disturbs but the anti social element Power failure or cut which rudely awakes us like a thunder bolt.

Children and old people bear the brunt of summer as they are unable to bear the heat.

With the hot winds blowing and sun beating down relentlessly just imagine the plight of the Nanganallurvasis without power.

For some unknown reasons the power plays truant in the mornings. Some modular kitchens though very comfortable are very tiny. Thus cooking without an exhaust fan is like staying in a furnace. The women are prone to irritation and are uncomfortable during the power failure.

When we call the electricity office to lodge a complaint they conveniently put down the receivers and behave callously.

The morning cuts have a series of impact. Obviously the motor strikes and the water cannot be pumped into the sumps. No power No water is the order of the day.

Once during torrid summer Nanganallur was reeling under acute power failure .Repeated request by the people to the concerned authorities was futile. With no power and no water an old man died of exhaustion. Whether it is a power cut or power failure is still a mystery.

A group of boys unable to suffer from power failure voiced their protests belligerently by surrounding the office with sticks. And forced the officers in charge to resume power.

This operation by youth worked wonders an there was no power cut for some time .

When the current is off during night the whole area in engulfed in darkness At day

we go zombie. Power failure is inevitable during floods and cyclones as it will save the lives of people but not during summer when it assumes demoniac proportions.
