TNanganallur which seemed miles away from the city started appearing closer. One can ask me as to how Nanganallur can drift close to the city. When the subway near the Trident hotel was constructed we saw a light at the end of a tunnel. It eased the traffic and made commutation easy. This sub way is a boon to us and is almost a decade old.
The construction of another sub way at Thillai Ganga Nagar a part of this temple town is treasured to a great extent. It is of immense help to the motorist driving from Adambakkam and its environs to Nanganallur. We do not have to take a circuitous route to reach Nanganallur but cut across cement road at Alandur and motor through the Thillai Ganga Nagar subway to reach Nanganallur.
It is time saving with less effort. People waited with baited breath for its completion. It took ages to become an operational one. At present the approach to the sub way is from the main road-GST road which saves us from twisting and turning. It is a part of the inner ring road which connects Velacherry. This is still under construction.
A succinct sketch of the subway. Since there was no sign of official inauguration the citizens cut the ribbon and made it commutable without any hassles.
The sub way is a boon as we are able to reach the GST road in split second. States a resident of Thillai Ganga Nagar.
The long serpentine road which led to the cement road was narrow and a couple of buildings which stood there as sentinels obstructed the straight path. The approach roads to the subway are not straight but curled like dogs tail.
Adjoining the houses a sprawling open ground and massive area on the other side of the cement road near the GST road is an added advantage which fructified the inner ring road. Thus the authorities found it easy to straighten the road from the sub way to the GST Road because it had no inhabitation which facilitated the work.
But the twin houses which refused to budge stood like Nandhi causing concern to the officials. It took a long time to remove the obstacles from the area. There is hectic work in progress. But the old charm is lost . What is it?
