The much awaited Usman road fly over is to be inaugurated on the eve of Independence day heralding the free movement of vehicles and commuters.I walked languidly near the flyover to survey the scenario as it has been the Talk of the Town. Here's a curtain raiser on the inauguration of the flyover.

The artery of T Nagar, the bustling Usman road is the cynosure of the public for the past few months. The corporation authorities finally had their way by constructing the flyover across the nerve centre of Tnagar - Usman road. To decongest the traffic and facilitate the pedestrians to saunter comfortably in the road.is their motive. Nevertheless the textile tycoons and jewellery barons in Usman road fought a relentless battle to stop the construction of the flyover. But inscrutable are the ways of the authorities. The flyover is nearing completion. The flyover bridges North and South Usman road. Originating from Coats road in the north usman road it tapers towards the south usman road near the mammoth Bata showroom .It can be vice versa also.



It is believed to enable the vehicles to whiz past from either side of the flyover. It is Padmavyuham as the residents and other motorists should go around the world to get out of this part of Tnagar. It resembles a security zone as it is a Herculean task for the residents living in the adjoining streets to reach other places.

With the completion of the flyover people are waiting with baited breath about the usage of the flyover.

I nostalgically recall the Usman road of yester years when the tall trees formed a green canopy giving a shelter to the multitude.It was a veritable paradise.on earth. The commercial hub of T Nagar -Usman road was a Promenade which had a unique charm of is own. Now the road has assumed a new color . The flyover has affected the street hawkers who sat precariously on the fringes of Usman road . Now they are roaming lie nomads. The caravan of characters a la hawkers are at their wits end about their future.

In the Operation Widening the authorities are removing the first two steps of every shop on the threshold that leads to the pavement. The tiles will take the place of the steps this will not only broaden the road but also enhance the beauty of it. A massive stage is being laid near the roundtana of the terminus as many eminent personalities are suppose to congregate to dedicate the flyover to the public.There is heavy security as the police are keeping a constant vigil patrolling the area . Political bigwigs and the corporation authorities make a ritualistic visit to the flyover every day. There are mixed feelings about the flyover as it is of immense help to many but dislocating some.A former resident of Ramanathan street a branch of Usman road I have noticed the palpable change over the years.

It has metamorphosed into happening area with a unique pulsating vibrancy of its own.
