Don't get misled by the back-of-beyond feel of Easy 2 Wear (Nungambakkam), as this is literally a treasure-trove of all kinds of clothes and accessories (read funky jewellery, handbags and teen bling). The head-turning outfits might seem expensive, but turn the collar and you are likely to cry out in joy!
For the fashion conscious, all roads lead to Cool Club (Greams Road). Favourite haunt of both the college crowd as well as the corporate flock, the trial rooms at this place are never free! Get set to be floored by the gaze-stealing line of shirts, pants, wrap-arounds, capris and a whole lot of kid's wear. Make sure you have time on your hands for that perfect buy.
The one store that has made it big from being simply a garage store is Just Casuals on Sterling Road. Its shelves heave with casuals and formals in familiar names like Banana Republic, Old Navy and Gap. Export surplus, they surely are, but their quality and price are unbeatable.
Drive down a couple of kilometers to Kilpauk, look for the confectionery king Hot Breads and bang opposite you'll find this funky-looking shop called Show Off. With jazzed-up windows and shimmering silver interiors this store sure makes a statement. Check out the collection of men's and women's wear, not to mention the elaborate party-wear section.
