The Lord Of Story Telling

It was a truly a remarkable display of the best selling author's ability to make people listen with immense attention. That is the popularity acclaimed by Lord Jeffrey Archer who was in Chennai recently for the 'Landmark Jeffrey Archer Tour'. Lord Jeffrey shared his experience of writing his latest international bestseller "Paths of Glory". The novel is a fictional description of one of the utmost unsolved mystery in mountaineering history. It rotates around the story of George Mallory and his dream of being the first person to climb the top of Mt. Everest. It also reminds us about the arrogance exhibited by the upper class in England in the 20th century.

Jeffrey also launched his celebrated novels, 'A Twist In the Tale' and 'Not A Penny More, Not A Penny Less' translated in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, at Landmark on Monday.

Says Lord Jeffrey, "Paths of Glory is a truly a remarkable story, I spent a whole year writing about it. This is the first time I have written something that has happened in the past". Lord Jeffrey has skillfully blended the facts and fiction, and brought out a heroic tale.

Talking about his next project Lord Jeffrey said, "when I came to India last year I was very touched by the response I received by the people, they love short stories and I am going to give them twelve short stories named 'And There By Hangs The Tail'".

A great fan of R.K Narayan, Lord Jeffrey admits, "If you want a master to read short stories to you then R.K Narayan is the man. I would definitely go back and read Malgudi Days. Mr. R.K had god's given gift, his stories makes you turn the pages".

An ardent cricket fan Lord Jeffrey shared his exciting rendezvous with Jumbo, as he elucidates, "I loved his captaincy at Australia and I told Dravid that I would like to meet him. He took me to Kumble and when I was about shake hands with him, he took his mobile out of his pocket and started dialing a number as he spoke into the phone to his wife, he said "I have your hero beside me" so that day I never got a chance to speak to Mr. Kumble I got a chance to speak to Mrs. Kumble".

At his candid best the master story teller also signed books for his enthusiastic fans, who were more than enchanted to be part of this significant event! Lord Jeffrey sums it up as he said, "I will be back next year!"
