It was a truly
a remarkable display of the best selling author's ability to make people
listen with immense attention. That is the popularity acclaimed by Lord
Jeffrey Archer who was in Chennai recently for the 'Landmark Jeffrey
Archer Tour'. Lord Jeffrey shared his experience of writing his latest
international bestseller "Paths of Glory". The novel is a fictional
description of one of the utmost unsolved mystery in mountaineering
history. It rotates around the story of George Mallory and his dream of
being the first person to climb the top of Mt. Everest. It also reminds
us about the arrogance exhibited by the upper class in England in the
20th century.
Jeffrey
also
launched his
celebrated
novels, 'A
Twist In the
Tale' and
'Not A Penny
More, Not A
Penny Less'
translated
in Tamil,
Kannada and
Malayalam,
at Landmark
on Monday.
Says Lord
Jeffrey,
"Paths of
Glory is a
truly a
remarkable
story, I
spent a
whole year
writing
about it.
This is the
first time I
have written
something
that has
happened in
the past".
Lord Jeffrey
has
skillfully
blended the
facts and
fiction, and
brought out
a heroic
tale.
Talking
about his
next project
Lord Jeffrey
said, "when
I came to
India last
year I was
very touched
by the
response I
received by
the people,
they love
short
stories and
I am going
to give them
twelve short
stories
named 'And
There By
Hangs The
Tail'".
A great
fan of R.K
Narayan,
Lord Jeffrey
admits, "If
you want a
master to
read short
stories to
you then R.K
Narayan is
the man. I
would
definitely
go back and
read Malgudi
Days. Mr.
R.K had
god's given
gift, his
stories
makes you
turn the
pages".
An ardent
cricket fan
Lord Jeffrey
shared his
exciting
rendezvous
with Jumbo,
as he
elucidates,
"I loved his
captaincy at
Australia
and I told
Dravid that
I would like
to meet him.
He took me
to Kumble
and when I
was about
shake hands
with him, he
took his
mobile out
of his
pocket and
started
dialing a
number as he
spoke into
the phone to
his wife, he
said "I have
your hero
beside me"
so that day
I never got
a chance to
speak to Mr.
Kumble I got
a chance to
speak to
Mrs. Kumble".
At his
candid best
the master
story teller
also signed
books for
his
enthusiastic
fans, who
were more
than
enchanted to
be part of
this
significant
event! Lord
Jeffrey sums
it up as he
said, "I
will be back
next year!"
