The leading Indian leather brand Hidesign, has experienced considerable international growth in recent years, and is now focussing on expanding its outlets in the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
The expansion initiative in Belgium has received a major impetus, with Hidesign tying up with a new distributor, Hughes. Plans are to open up a wholesale store in Antwerp, and then move to exclusive retail showrooms. An investment of over $200,000 is expected in the Belgian market.
In Austria, Hidesign is set to move into high gear, with three new stores in Salzburg, Vienna, and Graz. Bestel Lang, the distributing company in Austria will continue to be the official partner and will participate in the expansion plans in this region.
Commenting on the decision to open these new stores, distributor for Austria, Alexandria said, “The Hidesign brand has tremendous quality and price advantages in Austria. In spite of the strong competition, Hidesign has created a niche for itself.” The new stores will be catering largely to this existing potential and demand," she said.
After establishing a strong presence in Russia, Hidesign is now targeting Hungary. Speaking on the expansion in Hungary, Gilbert, vice-president said, “To establish Hidesign effectively in Hungary, we have decided to have two distributors in this region-one for garments and accessories, the other for corporate gifting alone.” The two distributors will be based in Budapest and Gyor.
Hidesign’s recent thrust in international expansion and consolidation started in the South Asian markets of Malaysia and Singapore. Later it
also went to West Asia.
