Suvethakedu

Suvethakedu was the son of Uthalaga Aruni risihi. He learned sastras from his father and went to Panchala. Pravahanajayvali, the king of Pancahala, fired questions at Suvethakedu, which included, "Where do the dead go? How do they return back to earth? What is the fifth ahuthi?" Suvethakedu had no answers for these questions and told the king that his father had not taught them about these issues. So he returned back to his father, and stated what had happened.

Aruni himself did not know the answers to the questions. He learnt the answers from the king. (Santhokya Upanishad)

Suvethakedu learnt all the sastras and then began to boast that he knew everything. But when his father asked him which sastra was the one that was the most powerful of all, Suveda accepted that he did not know that.

I was searching for some infor..... - Pia, Singapore, 4/5/2004
Aruni preached to his son that "One who knows God, knows everything. God is the universe. In deep sleep (sukshupthi) we reach God. After waking up, we come away. The earth is formed from God like a big banyan tree getting formed from a small seed. God has mingled in this universe like salt with water. Those who realises God, become God Himself. Suveda, you and God are one - Tat vam asi Suvedakedho!

Tat vam asi is considered a mahavakyam. It contains the essence of Hindu philosophy. (Santhokya Upanishad)
