To Shirdi I come,
With love in my heart
With hope in each breath,
My goal the Lord’s Feet!To Parthi I come,
With a longing to see Baba,
No ‘simhikas’ can daunt me
For His will is my power!
The seed of His empathy took root in my heart,
Not in a day, or in an hour, or in an era of living,
But in that moment of heartache which did tear me apart,
And propelled me to Him, childlike…to the Supreme Being!
There was this temple, a short drive from my home
In a foreign land… a desert, with blue seas topped with
foam;
A land far removed from the culture that raised me,
Yet, a land that brought out the very best in me.
Of all worldly blessings which I attribute to the Maker,
There is indeed something that has brought Him nearer,
Something so commonplace…as a ‘Driving Licence’!
That enabled me to spend lovely hours in His presence!
I believe it to be a spark of Baba’s concern,
A tiny jigsaw in his grand master plan,
To lift me from the ennui of home, kids and shopping,
And transport me to His Abode every Monday morning!
It was with eagerness that I first visited His shrine,
And His grace grew on me from that moment of time,
That catapulted me to the pinnacle of quiet happiness,
Of faith, trust and devotion in Baba, who else?
The image of Baba invokes deep reverence in me,
His Feet and His Form are most dear to me,
The mere thought of Him confers courage and confidence,
His vision bestows humility…in amazing abundance!
With His thoughts in my mind and His form in my sight,
I drove to His temple in the mornings or at night,
With belief and excitement lighting my path,
To witness the splendour of the Arathi… of Sainath
Hail to the Beacon that beckons from far,
Hail to that Love that engulfs me in its power,
Hail to that Compassion that smokes out fright and fear,
Hail to my ‘Nidhi’ in this life and in the ones after,
Praise be to the Guru, the Mother and Baba,
My life breath, my lifeline, can there be any other?
With His subtle playfulness and world of gentleness,
He has made my life a song sans a note of sadness!!!
A sincere and intense prayer to Baba,
Tinged with heartfelt gratitude,
To help me share the courage You gave me,
With, those in need of fortitude.
To catch a glimpse of Your divine aura,
In each and every form and flora,
To help me share the joy You gave me,
With, souls in despair, pain and agony.
To help me imbibe the pure air of Bhakti,
To wield the wand of kindness and mercy,
To spread your warmth among my brethren…Your children,
To make living a paradise on earth as in Heaven!
In your garden of lilies and sweet smelling roses,
Of thistles and thorns and fierce looking nettles,
(Alluding to the different types of humans, created by the
Lord),
Help me to diffuse the balm of your tenderness,
Which you shower on me, in my distress and loneliness.
With this prayer on my lips and my heart filled with
calmness,
I take leave of His shrine in a spirit of fearlessness,
As I drive to my home on the wings of euphoria,
I sense Baba by my side, the Lord and my Saviour.
Take me to Shirdi O gracious Baba…
I come with love in my heart and hope in each breath…
Take me to Parthi O glorious Baba….
No ‘Simhikas’ can daunt me for Your will is my power.
