O what can ail thee modern wife?
Merry and melancholic in mid-life?
Pray, what be the success of thy brew?
Is it diligence, duty or discipline true?
In a manner calm, with a twinkle in tone
Replied the woman stressed to the bone:
"Aha, a secret, I'll divulge mine friend,
It is chaos, total - that reigns at my end;
Pace yourself well while you work and sing
For there's a time and place for everything!
Desire, langour, passion and lust;
For thriving souls - an absolute must!
Surrender to cravings, & cyber addiction
Savour suspense thrillers and science fiction!
Go moderate with all that spiritual magma
Like religion, philosophy and divine dogma!
For amidst the chaos of nine to five,
We need domestic drudgery to survive!
Child rearing, chauffering - yes life's essence;
Skating, swimming and basketball lessons.
Banal phone conversations in therapy name,
Assist in house cleaning - all part of the game!
Grin and bear any mind assault,
Take it all in with a ship of salt!
Reflect on those less fortunate my mate,
Appreciate will you then, thy blissful state,
And then perhaps wonder about the modern wife,
Why chugs along she so cheerfully in mid-life!"
