I need to learn, O' I need to learn,
Know to never speak out of turn;
Without a sigh, without a moan,
Learn to leave well enough alone.
I need to learn to keep eyes dry
Reckon that things will go awry,
So grin and bear, come frost or burn
I confess indeed that I must learn!
Learn I must to drink the potion
Interaction sans emotion,
So as I dutifully multi-task
Questions here, I do ask:
"Have I been flippant or tarty?
Have I taken much liberty?
Like Remus did jeer Romulus,
Were my remarks superfluous?"
Tell me friend, dear twin O' mine
Tell me all is dandy and fine;
Assure me that I have done no wrong,
That our hearts quiver to the same song.
Alas! Like many a decent soul should
I naturally try to do some good;
But my naivete leaves me at a loss
As this "samsaric" sea I learn to cross!
So don't you sear, don't you scorch,
Don't set me alight with that torch!
Dare I venture bold, don't silently scold,
Like some Arctic maiden grim and old.
Blow hot, blow cold - why ever so soon?!
I know not the dynamics of sun and moon;
But privy to persons and places galore
I continue to imbibe from tales of yore.
Ah.. I need to learn, shall surely learn,
In the still of the night that mocks me stern;
For respect, yes.. I must silently earn
If butter from milk I need to churn.
So without a sigh, without a moan,
The background music playing a drone;
Come rain, snow storm or hail stone,
I will learn to leave well enough alone.
