Ah...it is time for that special person’s day
From whom life lessons we imbue;
A day we celebrate on this month of May
Honouring that goddess true.
Now, Rhea and Cybeles...just - who remembers?
Mother Gods of ancient Greece;
And what of Julia Howe and other members
In their proclamation for peace??
Yes, mothers both modern and ancient
They have laid their arms for us;
Night and day with smiles pleasant,
Caring tenderly without a fuss.
Unmindful of poignant sorrow and pain,
How you did nurture and nourish;
A gentle, prime provider main
Right from start to finish.
Pamper and joyously you did feed,
With boundless, unconditional love;
Like a banana plant of rare breed -
An angel from heavens above.
You love us quite dearly to a fault,
A saint you are without blemish;
How you dance and somersault
As you multitask with flourish!
Aptitude did I not have any...
O’ mother of mine Supreme;
Yet you taught me things many
Showering me with self esteem.
One day I know, - you will be gone,
But I shall not be alone;
For your spirit and strength shall spur me on
As I stand tall on my own.
