Lead kindly eternal light

Before I could wink: at the last vision
Of the orb that had been guiding all lives
The mounting murk closed his flaming session,
I groped and groaned as he had ceased to rise
I next turned to the bright queen of the night
She too waned into a nihil of gloom
That my eyes lightless struggled hard to fight
Only to sense a deeper pitch large loom
It was then I sought the light of fire struck
By the primeval hand in an access
Of wonder but only dead ember struck
Last my voice led soon me to dispossess
Until from the eclipse I dived within
To see the light of self all illumine
