To promote German language and culture in India, a Coimbatore-based
charitable trust has joined hands with Munich-headquartered Goethe
Institut and formed a new association.
The Indo-German Cultural Association has launched Goethe-Zentrum,
which would operate under the aegis of Goethe Institut, Delhi
branch, to promote the study of German language and encourage and
inform Indian students for higher studies in Germany, Akila,
corporate executive of the G D Naidu Charities, told reporters here
today.
The Zentrum was officially inaugurated by German
Ambassador to India Bernd Mutzelburg on September 28.
The inaugural event was marked by a performance
by a German music band 'Fun Horns' and September 29 witnessed a
celebration of German food and music as well as German films.
The Zentrum would start its German language
classes by October first week, by launching first two basic levels
of the language, which was framed on the guidelines of the European
Framework of References for Languages, Akila said. (Agencies)
