No need to change Ganguly, says Tendulkar
Bangalore, June 18: Backing Sourav
Ganguly, batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar today said the team was heading in the right direction under Ganguly's captaincy and indicated that he was in favour of continuing the present combination.
"Sourav is doing a marvellous job. I feel when the team is heading in the right direction, nobody should disturb that," Tendulkar told reporters on the sidelines of a fitness camp for Asia Cup probables when asked if he wanted to be the captain again.
"It's all collective performance (under Ganguly's captainship) that has helped the team", he said pointing out that all top order batsmen barring Akash Chopra had scored hundreds in the series against Australia. The bowlers also did a good job. Fast bowlers Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar and then Irfan Pathan and L Balaji did well and Anil Kumble put in a consistent performance, the ace batsman said.
"It's a collective team performance that helped. So, we should continue with that", he said. On the fast bowlers' performance in recent months, Tendulkar said they have shown tremendous discipline and fitness and have been able to bowl long spells. "They tried very hard. All credit to them."
