Sri Lankan Airlines packages for cricket fans
Tiruchirappalli, July 11: Sri Lankan Airlines is offering special packages for cricket lovers for the next week's Asia Cup tournament and also to attract tourists to the island nation. The airlines had planned the packages to suit the pockets of cricket fans visiting Sri Lanka from July 16 to August 1, during the duration of the tournament, Pratap Balakrishnan, sales manager of the airlines, told newsmen here yesterday.
The packages include the Tiruchirappalli-Colombo flight and return airfare and a holiday for three nights and four days on a twin-sharing basis in three star hotels. However, it would exclude the airport tax, cost of match entrances, sight seeing tickets and lunch and dinner bills, he said. For tourists, there would be a 'mini tour' around Colombo at Rs 10,256 per head and another one at Rs 11,829 per head for a tour of cultural sites in Sri Lanka, he said.
The above packages were separate from the regular holiday fares offered by the airlines, Balakrishnan said. He said the airlines presently operated services to 22 nations and planned to include China in the network. In India, it operated 66 flights a week to 10 destinations, including Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai and wanted to start services to two more cities.
Sri Lankans had evinced keen interest in visiting various pilgrim centres in south India. Hence, the airlines was trying for tie-ups with some agencies and departments to implement plans in this regard, he added. (Agencies)
