Warne breaks Murali's record - Scorecard
Chennai, October 15: Australian spinner Shane Warne overtook Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan to become the world's highest wicket taker, with 533 scalps to his credit on the second day of the second cricket Test against India at Chennai.
Warne claimed the prize wicket of Irfan Pathan, who pushed the ball towards Matthew Hayden in the first slips and was caught.
The 35-year-old Warne achieved the record-breaking feat in his 114th Test, 12 years after he made his debut against the same opponents at Sydney.
Yesterday, he had equalled Murali's record with the wicket of opener Yuvraj Singh. (Our Correspondent)
