Tendulkar likely to play third Test
Chennai, Oct 18: Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar is "recovering very fast" and is likely to play the third cricket Test against Australia starting in Nagpur on October 26. Tendulkar, who is recuperating from an elbow injury, missed the first two Tests of the ongoing series against Australia. The star batsman was today named in a 15-member squad and Cricket Board secretary S K Nair said the player could make it to the side for the Nagpur match as he was well on the road to recovery. "Tendulkar is reported to be recovering very fast," he said.
He, however, said Tendulkar would have to undergo a fitness test two days before the start of the match. "He will undergo a fitness test two days before the match and if the medical team declares him match fit, he will be included in the eleven," Nair said. Captain Sourav Ganguly was also optimistic about Tendulkar's chances of taking the field in the Nagpur match. "As far as I have heard Sachin is getting better. We are hopeful for him, we have our fingers crossed," said the skipper.
India currently trails Australia 0-1 in the four-match series. While Australia won the first Test by 217 runs in
Bangalore, the second
Test ended in a rain-washed draw here today. (Our Correspondent)
