I won't 'walk', says Kaif

New Delhi, October 23: The Australians might have caused a stir with their new trend of 'walking' and a couple of Indian cricketers might have followed suit, but Mohammad Kaif remains unimpressed. Kaif, who celebrated his Test recall with a maiden half-century during the second Test in Chennai, says he belongs to the old school and would stay put at the crease until the umpire asked him to go.

"I will not walk. The umpire has a job to do, I will wait for his decision," the 24-year-old Kaif said. The middle-order batsman also said there was no understanding between the two teams to relieve the umpires of their pressure. "There has been no team talk or plan as such. It is all about individual decision," he said on the sidelines of the launch of the first ever souvenir of the Veteran Cricketers Association.

On his knock in Chennai, Kaif said "it was important innings for me considering that I was coming into the team after three years. The team situation demanded a partnership from myself and Parthiv (Patel) so that we could build a big lead." (Agencies)
