Colombo Nov 13: Sri Lanka's state television
Rupavahini will sponsor the country's cricket tournaments for
the next five years.
This would, however, not include the
India-Sri Lanka Test series to be played in June next year, Sri
Lanka Cricket (SLC) media manager Samantha Algama said.
He said a decision on the sponsors for the
series against India will be decided later.
"Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) has
come forward to sponsor the main tournaments of the SLC with Rs
50 million ($ 440,000) for five years," he said.
Algama said the in addition to the financial
support, SLRC will telecast the tournament live.
"For the first time there will be live
telecasts of local matches," Algama said, adding, "this would
include live telecast of quarter finals, semi-finals and finals
of the country's Premier League matches, Twenty20 games, four
day tournaments and highlight packages." (Agencies)
